Becoming a Management Analyst
By Silas Reed
A management analyst is a person who is often referred to as a management consultant. The job of management analysts is to provide corporations as well as government agencies with the proficiency that is required for solving the management related problems in a swift manner. • Rapid expansion
  • Relocation of business
  • Technical innovation
  • Competition from other rivals
For instance, if a corporation is taking over another one, the management may decide to reorganize the entire corporate synergy. The management business analyst is the person who will analyze the needs of the new organization as well as recommend the changes that are required to be made to the existing structure and help the company integrate the changes, some of which may include:
  • Elimination of the non essential equipment and jobs
  • Streamlining an inventory system
The responsibilities of management analyst jobs include competing for contracts for services as well as preparing detailed lists of the proposals for particular consulting projects. Once a project is landed, the management analyst analyzes the problems as well as shortfalls in the business of the client and thinks of possible solutions. The solutions are thereby presented to the client in oral presentations as well as written reports. Thus, the management analysts help the client implement the proposed solutions in an effective manner.

The academic requirements of the management business analyst involve a college degree since it is their job to analyze as well as provide management consulting. Private organizations generally look for the management analysts with a master's degree in business administration or an MBA or any of the related disciplines. Other than that, the candidates who are straight out of college may also be employed as a management analyst or research associate by reporting to consultants who are richer in experience as well as qualification. If you are interested in a career in management consulting, you must look for a study of business administration in general. Gaining know-how in a specific area of expertise will entail knowledge in any of the following subjects such as:
  • Engineering
  • Computer sciences
  • Information sciences
  • Marketing
  • Distribution
  • Communication
The management business analyst must have thorough knowledge in world cultures since this is something that has been necessitated by the globalization of the economies and markets. The skill sets must also include the ability to communicate in one or more foreign language. The management analyst jobs require the professional to be creative as well as a self disciplined individual who is required to provide the corporations and government agencies with the knowledge that is required to solve the issues and problems that are related to the management.

The management analysts can gain a competitive knowledge with the help of training and experience. They can earn the designation of a Certified Management Consultant or the IMC USA. This is a qualification earned by those who pass the exam and clear an interview for covering the IMC USA Code of Ethics.

A successful management analyst can sell themselves on the basis of their skill and expertise that is gained with the help of experience. The management analysts maintain a network of their past as well as potential clients and working in an organization at a junior level is something that helps them advertise their services in magazines and newspapers as well as the professional and trade periodicals.

The global career prospects of the management analyst jobs are good as is their employment outlook. In fact, the growth curve happens to be a steady one with the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics predicting that the prospects are better until 2014. 605,000 Americans had been employed as management analysts in 2004 and the companies will continue to expand their services which will make the management analysts become more popular.

The median annual salary of a management analyst is $64,000, although this is something that depends on the following factors such as:
  • Education
  • Experience
  • Role in a consulting project
According to the Association of Management Consulting Firms, the median salary for entry level associates is $53,000.

The management analyst jobs are required to work for longer hours with strict dead lines and hence they must be able to manage job related stress in their designation.
