Stay at Home Jobs for People with Disabilities

by Silas Reed
If you have a physical disability, finding the right employment can be a difficult proposition. This is because there are so many potential problems associated with finding a great job that will cater to your physical situation. Because of this, a work from home position is probably your best bet at finding good jobs part time, without having you worry about your disabilities getting in the way. Many companies will make special concessions to those with disabilities, which will cut down on the amount of anxiety in your life. If you are able to find flexible jobs part time that you can do from the comfort of your own home, it is definitely a step in the right direction and can make your next job the best job that you have ever had.

The first thing to make sure you look out for is the type of employment that you are applying for. Unfortunately, since working from home is many people's dream, there are many scams out there that will attempt to separate you from your money. Never pay up front for job leads because there is probably some sort of catch and you will probably end up losing this money. There are countless legitimate part time jobs out there, so there is no reason to pay for these job leads up front.

The first type of job that many people are able to do from home is that of a customer service phone representative. Many Western companies now outsource their call center contracts to foreign countries like India, but this has created a major backlash for these corporations, since the language barrier is simply too great to handle in some cases. Therefore, many of these companies are now hiring people to work from home and do these call center jobs part time, which is a great way to make some extra money while catering to your physical disability.

Another type of employment that can be done from home is website design, as the majority of these positions call for the applicant to work at his or her own house. The internet has created countless jobs in this industry and if you are able to work as a freelance website designer, you can work from home and create your own hours. These usually start off as part time jobs, but you can easily end up with full time hours if you build up a customer base and are constantly doing a good job.

A part time job that is similar to working in a call center is that of a virtual assistant. There are so many companies now out there that want to save money on their receptionists that they are more than willing to have people do these jobs part time from home. Your job description will include working with individual customers, data entry, transcription, and anything else that a normal receptionist does, except for you can do everything from your home. The internet has made this type of employment a reality because information can be shared between your house and the office immediately.

Along the lines of a virtual assistant is a job as a medical transcriptionist. These part time jobs call for workers to listen to recordings that have been made by doctors and type them out word for word. There is a little bit of training required in order to do these jobs part time, but it is well worth it because these jobs pay quite well, especially considering that you are able to stay home and complete this work. A virtual juror is also something that is worth looking into, as this service is used by attorneys to see if their cases have any merit before going to trial. You will not be an actual juror, but rather a practice juror that will listen to a case and come to a conclusion.

If you are serious about working from home, you can do these jobs part time and make a pretty good living in the process. You will not get rich with this type of employment, but you can definitely bring in some much needed extra cash. In today’s economy, more and more businesses are looking to outsource work to those who prefer to stay home, so make sure that you take advantage of these part time jobs.
