The Direct Support Professional will be responsible with support to people who experience intellectual and developmental disabilities. To protect and promote the rights and dignity of the person(s) you support through building a committed relationship based on trust and supporting that person to become an active and valued member of their community.nn* Observe and respond to person physical, social, behavioral and personal needs. n* Provide adequate supervision to people receiving support to facilitate their health and safety. n* Ensure a Community Integration Plan is developed and followed, and that this plan is meaningful and beneficial for the person. n* Attend and participate in all relevant Health & Joy Services, LLC events, workshops and meetings. n* Ensure responsible usage of the person and agencys resources, e.g. computers, finances, etc. n* Support the person to achieve their highest potential and goals for community integration and contribution, relationship building, vocational exploration, self-determination, learning and personal growth. n* Explore the interests and desires of the person being supported. n* Provide support in a manner which respects a persons right to privacy and upholds their dignity. n* Demonstrate a person-centered practice, an understanding of and commitment to inclusion, a and the rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. n* Maintain thorough records and documentation as required by DDS/DDA. n* All other duties as assigned. . nnRequirementsn* Dependable; history of good attendance n* Strong interpersonal/customer service skills n* Effective verbal/written communication skills n* Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment n* Minimum high school diploma or GED equivalent.n* Proficient in word processing, data base management, and spreadsheet, e.g., Word or Excel.n* Ability to pass state background checkn* Ability to pass and maintain required trainings n* CPR & First Aid Certification nnBenefitsn* $15.00/hourn* Ability to grow with a family-owned business located in the District of Columbia.n* Great for candidates looking for entry level opportunities, or with limited work experience.,
