Job Description Summary
The University Counseling Center (UCC) is the primary mental health service for **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. students, providing routine and crisis-oriented counseling and referral, alcohol and other drug assessment, eating disorder therapeutic support, case management, group-based intervention, outreach, and community engagement. The Director of the UCC provides strong leadership and an innovative vision for the mental health of our students. The Director is responsible for clinical and administrative oversight of all UCC staff; designs and implements campus initiatives based on assessed needs and with coordinated partnership with Health & Wellbeing Team partners; is a resource for community members regarding mental health concerns; and provides consultation to university partners and senior leadership regarding effective policy and practice. Within the Division of Campus Life the Director reports to the Assistant Vice President for Health & Wellbeing, and is a member of both the Health & Wellbeing Leadership Team and the Campus Life Leadership Team.

Job Description
Essential Functions:
Oversees and administers all clinical, operational, and financial aspects of the University Counseling Center.
Provides administrative and clinical oversight and leadership of the UCC Leadership Team which oversees the center's clinical services, APA-accredited training program, community outreach, and staff development.
Serves as chief mental health officer for the university, providing content expertise for the university's approach to mental health promotion and stigma reduction. Also leads focused and persistent efforts regarding the intersection of mental health and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Closely collaborates with Health & Wellbeing Team members and other campus partners and content experts in both strategy and implementation of prevention, intervention, and mental health promotion efforts.
Consults with senior leadership regarding effective policy and practice supportive of the mental health of our community members.
Provides clinical and administrative supervision to UCC mental health professionals, graduate trainees, and administrative support staff.
In partnership with key stakeholders from across the university, the Director develops and implements strategic initiatives to address the community's mental health needs.
Provides clinical consultation to the WFU community (students, staff, faculty, families) regarding effective management of student mental health issues.
Utilizes assessment and outcomes data to assess the mental health needs of the student community, and effectively communicate to a variety of campus constituents.
Serves on both the Health & Wellbeing Leadership Team and Campus Life Leadership Team.
Coordinates off-campus clinical assessment of students who may pose a threat to the community.
Facilitates professional development of staff to ensure alignment with best practices in mental health care on a college campus.
Participates in rotation for on-call after-hours response for psychological emergencies.
Provides a limited amount of direct clinical services (individual and group counseling and psychotherapy) to Reynolda Campus undergraduate and graduate students.
Other Functions:
Serves on WFU Crisis Management Team and its subsidiaries.
Serves as a key member of WFU CARE Team (threat assessment and behavioral intervention), providing consultation regarding mental health concerns.
Collaborates on relevant university committees and task forces.
Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Terminal degree in a mental health profession.
Licensed/license eligible to practice independently as a mental health provider in the state of North Carolina.
Minimum seven years of experience as a licensed mental health provider, with at least 5 years of experience in a higher education setting.
Experience in a senior leadership role at the Assistant/Associate Director level.
Knowledge of and/or ability to: Practice a wide range of counseling and psychotherapy methods
Use effective crisis intervention skills, including being on-call after-hours.
Adhere to relevant professional code of ethics and state law
Practice effective clinical supervision methods
Provide service to clients of diverse backgrounds
Lead and manage people and projects
Construct budgets, manage finances and implement effective systems and processes
Develop collaborative relationships across campus constituencies.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Ten years of experience as a licensed mental health provider.
Ability to engage in quantitative and qualitative assessment to measure population needs and service efficacy.
Ability to recruit and develop excellent professional staff.

: (6) Staff Psychologist/Counselors, (2) Doctoral Psychology Interns, (2) Masters Counseling Interns, Office Manager, Administrative Assistant, (2) Safe Office Counselor/Advocates, (3) Part-time Safe Office Responders, (2) Graduate Assistants.
