Job Description:
The IT Risk Director will provide a holistic view of risk and controls related to the Information Technology division of State Street Global Advisors. This position is part of a larger Business Controls organization on behalf of the firm. In this capacity the director will lead programs and initiatives to assess, monitor and mitigate risk in all geographical areas across multiple IT disciplines.
Identify and timely communicate risk observations to Business Control Executive management and partner organizations
Develop a keen understanding of the processes and technologies used in the business line, and complementing information technology controls
You will lead information technology compliance assessments, respond timely to IT regulatory exams and questionnaires and facilitate the remediation of identified business control failures
Lead assurance reviews for quality and timeliness of execution and reporting, advancing areas of concern to executive management
In collaboration with peers, you will assist in the design and production of the Business Controls IT Metrics program
You will demonstrate oral and written presentation skills to convey key messages
Build and/or participate in IT processes to ensure that potential information technology risks associated with new and existing business processes and IT applications are identified and addressed
Assist IT to understand the potential business impacts of proposed new controls, and of potential security risks from new business initiatives
We will act as an advisor to the first line in the area of risk assessment and controls development and growing collaboration with Business Control Sponsors and other first line partners
Develop and handle relationships among business line staff, act as a knowledge resource for inquiries related to IT Risk and controls. Promote a high level of awareness on IT control objectives and coverage
Drive improvement in residual risk measures through enhancement in the system of IT Internal controls, provide monitoring of end to end issue management
Bring to bear global resources for efficiency gains and diversification of talent to ensure the success of the team to achieve our objectives
Demonstrate a dedication to collaboration with other risk functions such as Legal, Compliance, Audit, Enterprise Technology Risk
The ability to influence senior business leaders about the need to accept adequate Information Technology controls is key to success in this role. We believe a deep understanding of financial services and the interrelationship of technology to achieve our goals is critical to our success.
7 to 10 years of information technology program management/leadership experience
Knowledge of business concepts including financial, business requirements, compliance and risk management
Strong background in leading others and acting as mentor to staff and peers
Previous IT Risk management experience preferred but not required
Ability to courageously influence colleagues at all levels of management
Strong written and oral communication skills, ability to express technical concepts to non-technical audience
