Position Overview
As a Digital Networking Field Application Engineer, you’ll be one of the key players in the Customer Application Support team and part of a worldwide technical community providing premium pre and post sales technical support to NXP customers and their projects. You drive demand creation and design-in activity at customer sites in close cooperation with the NXP business lines; you provide technical skills & support to NXP’s sales staff and will liaise with the NXP technical community about technical issues and future roadmap of your customer(s). We rely on you to deliver the NXP value message in a persuasive and accurate manner, in order to increase our market share.
Digital Networking (DN) Field Applications Engineer - drive design wins inclusive of DN products with associated Linux system software.  Identify opportunities, recommend appropriate solutions leveraging the DN product family, support customer evaluations, and resolve any DN product issues that may arise in the customer's system. 
Responsibilities
100% Accountable to drive design wins in their target accounts
Leads proof of concept, solution design and demonstrations to secure NXP solution’s design-in
Synthesizes customer and competitive insights to improve product definition and roadmaps
Project manages the NXP design in campaigns for assigned customers to ensure early involvement in the customer’s technology roadmap and continuous and timely flow of information to all necessary parties within the BL and customer
Fully understands how ecosystem and Linux open source solutions can position NXP in the best possible manner
Qualifies sales opportunities in terms of customer technical requirements and establishes NXP's value proposition/position relative to the competition
Qualifies the value of NXP's products (strengths versus competitive products) and quantifies the technical benefits derived from choosing NXP
Owns the system software architect role to ensure broader technical team understands the software value proposition for system proposals
Delivers ongoing formal and informal knowledge sharing and product positioning that helps assigned accounts understand the operational, financial, and business impact of NXP solutions within their practice areas
Successfully builds relationships with sales team members, business lines, partners and customers in support of sales team objectives
Analyzes customer's technical objectives using relevant data gathering techniques enabling the sales team to be more predictive, effective and responsive to customer needs
Assists in educating Field Sales Engineers on new technologies, new product features and their related business value

Essential Requirements
Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering
Field Application Engineering experience in the semiconductor industry
Experienced in working at customer-sites for HW/SW debug and technical support
Understanding of Embedded Processor SOC’s for communications and Networking
Proven record of developing software in various embedded environments and OSes.
Experience with C, C , Python, Perl
Knowledge of Linux distributions and deployment models
Willing to travel (up to 25%, mostly Eastern Area focused)
Understanding of Architectures and Protocols for Networking, Industrial, and IoT Markets
Experienced in providing technical training to sales staff and distributors
Proven track record of quickly learning new technologies
Develop system level understanding of target end-applications

Mandatory and specific technical expertise
The candidate will be an FAE in the Eastern region supporting products for the Digital Networking business line, which include the Layerscape Arm -based Processors and Power Architecture- based QorIQ portfolios. These products require solid knowledge of both uboot and Linux device drivers, SDK, Linux patches, build environments, as well as the ability to support customer board bring-up and debug activities with JTAG enabled development tools.
The following skills are then a mandatory requirement:
Willingness to engage with customers in both pre-sales and post-sales support, and a proven successful track record in both.
Excellent communication and presentation skills. Strong customer presence.
Demonstrated knowledge of interfaces like PCIe, Ethernet, SATA, High Speed SerDes, DDR3/4, NAND/NOR/QSPI Flash, eMMC/SD, USB, UART, i2C
Knowledge in ARM 32/64-bit architectures
Expert in embedded Linux: kernel and user-space technologies and boot environments (UEFI, uboot)
Knowledge of virtualization (KVM, Containers, Dockers) and network function virtualization. 
Ability to read, understand and review schematics and provide design recommendations highly desirable.
Develop knowledge of NXP portfolio to ensure design in of complementary silicon.
Familiarity with networking equipment and evaluation board deployment and benchmarking
